Have you always wanted to repair woven furniture that’s broken, or weave something new for your home? Book in today to learn how to work with danish cord and weave a stylish stool made in house from reclaimed Australian Hardwoods at Among the Trees

In this practical class, you’ll start with a finished reclaimed timber stool from Among The Trees, and you’ll learn how to prepare and weave the stool top. All course bookings come with their own timber foot stool base which you will get to take home with you after the day is finished.

    • Knowledge of general safety in the workshop

    • The cord weaving basics and practical tips and tricks

      By the end of the class, you'll have a basic understanding of the principles of weaving and understand the joy that comes from working with your hands and creating something you can take home!

  • This workshop is aimed at people with no experience with weaving or woodwork and who are looking for an introduction to the craft. It is open to anyone 18 years and over.

    The course is run using entirely hand tools so you need to be aware that there is an element of physicality involved.

    • An appreciation of the value of hand-woven finishes and materials.

    • The knowledge to safely and effectively weave materials for your own projects.

    • Been introduced to weaving terminology.

    • Your own reclaimed timber stool with a woven top to take home.

    Among The Trees accepts students under 18 in two groups:
    • Students 13-15 years of age must attend all courses with a parent or guardian. This parent or guardian must also purchase a place in the course and take part. One parent/guardian is able to attend with multiple students.

    • Students 16-17 years of age may attend a course without a parent or guardian present.

    For all students under 18, the full name and contact information for parents and guardians must be provided when booking. If you have any questions, please get in touch with us.

    • You are encouraged to bring your own facemask, protective eyewear and ear protection however sanitised Personal Protective Equipment will be available to use. Any borrowed PPE needs to be sanitised after use.

    • You are required to wear closed-toe shoes.

    • Please wear clothing that can get dirty (e.g. sawdust will be present).

    • Long hair needs to be tied back and no loose hanging jewellery should be worn.
